Sunlight filtered weakly through the half-open blinds, casting slanted stripes across the cramped kitchen. The Harrington household was already humming with its usual brand of hectic energy, a cacophony of clattering dishes, shouted reminders, and the occasional shriek of a toddler in full revolt.
