Darkness clings to him like a shroud, cold and suffocating. Ethan’s eyelids flutter open, but the world that greets him feels alien, warped. A damp, metallic scent assaults his nostrils, mingling with the acrid tang of rot. The air is thick with moisture, heavy enough to taste. His chest heaves as ragged breaths scrape past cracked, chapped lips that aren’t quite his own. Panic coils in his gut, twisting tighter with every heartbeat.
He tries to move, but his limbs feel bulky, awkward—foreign. Fingers twitch, claws scraping against rough concrete beneath him. His head lolls sideways, and when he dares to lift it, the sight that greets him fractures the last remnants of sanity. Painted white, with a scarlet smile stretching far beyond natural bounds, lips pulled back to reveal rows of needle-sharp teeth that glint faintly in the dim light.
