The Best Knock-Knock in the Whole Meadow
The sun has barely poked its golden nose over the meadow when Rabbit's eyes pop open, wide as two shiny buttons. He lies there for exactly one second, blinking at the ceiling of his cozy little burrow, and then it hits him — a joke, fresh and wiggly and absolutely perfect, bounces into his brain like a happy bee that just found the juiciest flower in the whole wide world.
"Oh," Rabbit whispers to the dark. "Oh, that's a good one."
He sits straight up, ears springing to attention, and claps both paws over his mouth to keep from shouting it out loud right then and there. But the joke won't stay quiet. It buzzes around inside his skull, knocking on the walls of his brain, begging to be let out.
"Knock, knock," Rabbit mutters to himself, testing the words on his tongue like they're a brand-new kind of berry. He grins so wide his whiskers nearly touch his ears. "Oh, this is the best one yet. I just know it."
